Step And Repeat

What is a step and repeat?

Step and Repeat is a backdrop display that has one or more sponsor logos repeated in a step or diagonal alternating pattern. The purpose of a step and repeat backdrop is to emphasize a brand name, company logo or sports team name during media press conferences, red carpet events and special events. The step and repeat backdrop banner is designed for photo opportunities.

What are popular sizes for step and repeat backdrops?

Most popular sizes are:
8' x 8'
8' x 10'
8'x 12'
However, we can print your banner ANY SIZE you would like.

We provide hardware to display your banner or board and include easy, step-by-step directions. We can do installations in the Seattle/Bellevue area. Feel free to call us if you have any questions setting up your step and repeat banner or board.

What is the turnaround time for a step and repeat order?

We specialize in making projects go right and making our client's deadline. Let us know when it is due and we'll make it go right. In general, allow 1-3 days for printing.

What’s the difference between boards and banners?

Step and repeat boards are printed on vinyl and mounted to a sturdy board. Banners are printed on a high-quality, 13 oz banner material and can be sewn, hemmed and have grommets applied. Boards are rigid materials and are generally in 4' x 8' sections.

How long will my banner or board last?

We use HP printers using latex inks that produce long lasting water resistant products. An addition, the banner material we use for step and repeat backdrops are very durable & strong. Outdoor backdrops generally last 1-3 years. Indoor backdrops can last much longer.

What kind of material is the banner?

The banner we use for step and repeat backdrops is called 13 oz. scrim banner. It is a strong yet flexible heavy-duty, durable banner material. It is tear-resistant, matte, opaque and it gives good color brilliance.

What resolution should the logos be?

Please send the highest-resolution files you have (preferably vector .eps files). Any other files are fine as long as the resolution is good. 300 dpi (dots per inch) at 14" wide is extremely good resolution. 72 dpi at 14" wide is good resolution. Any dpi lower than 72 will pixelate and look fuzzy.

Design and Image File

What is the best format for artwork?

We need your artwork in vector or line format in order to scale and reproduce it. Files ending in in .ai. psd or .eps are good. Files such as .jpg. tif, or .bmp are not vector files. Colors should be specified as CMYK, PMS or Pantone.

How do I know if my file is vector file?

The easiest way to identify a vector file is by zooming in on your artwork. If you zoom in and see that your artwork is pixilated, then you don’t have a vector file. If the edges are clean and smooth when you zoom in, then you have vectorized artwork.

What if I do not have my artwork in a vector file?

Don’t worry – we can vectorize almost any artwork, even if we have to re-draw it. This just becomes a matter of time and money. Contact us for an estimate.

What resolution is acceptable for artwork submitted?

If sending your artwork in “real size” please send your work 150dpi. We can also work with a on-inch to-one-foot ration. (Example: if the art is to be 6 feet long and 4 feet tall, the submitted artwork should be 6 inches long and 4 inches tall) at 300 dpi.

What is dpi?

Dpi is the standard measurement for the resolution of images that describes the number of dots per inch that are used to create an image. The higher the dpi, the higher the resolution which translates to better quality of your final product.

What is color management?

Color management is the process to reconcile color differences among different devices (such as scanners, cameras, TV screens, monitors, etc..) so the output color can be confidently predicted. This process ensures the precise matching of your brand/organization colors.

What is a proof?

A proof is a way of ensuring that we have created your design accurately and that everything is positioned according to your requirements. Typically, we wil produce a proof which will be sent to you online or printed on paper which can be viewed at our office or delivered to you in person. We do not start any project until we have received a signed proof from the customer.

Mesh Banner

What are mesh banners?

Mesh banners are vinyl banners created with a open weave that allows air to pass through the banner. Like regular banners, any image can be printed on a mesh banner on a wide format printer. These banners can support high quality high resolution prints like their regular vinyl counter part. Mesh banners are recommended for outdoor use, especially when placed on fences or used in open areas.

What are the benefits of mesh banner?

There are two main benefits to mesh banners - appearance and safety. Mesh banners are designed to hold up well for outdoor use. Because mesh banners let 30% of wind or airflow pass through it reduces the wear and tear on the banner to keep it looking great longer. The 30% wind flow through also reduces the risk that your fences or supporting structure will be blown over in high winds.

How long do mesh fence banners last?

Mesh banners can look great from a few months up to a year, depending on the climate and UV exposure. Mesh banners, like regular banners, are not intended to be used as permanent signage. Over time, the image will begin to fade and depending on the harshness of the weather, the banner will eventually fray. Mesh banners hold up well for the typical duration of a construction site, an event, or sports season.

Are mesh fence banners required for my job site?

It depends on the building code and fire safety rules for your area. Be sure to check with the site safety or site management requirements for your municipality.

What type of Mesh Banners do RainMaker Signs fabricate?

We fabricate our mesh banners using 9 oz vinyl mesh. All our hems have additional webbing for reinforcement so that hold up longer than most mesh banners. Our banners are grommetted every 18" - 24" on all sides. Fire code rating of full color printing using a high resolution wide format printer. Same price if all your fence banner designs are the same or if each banner has a unique design.

How can mesh banners be customized?

Every banner we produce is custom made for our clients. We can produce your banners to your specifications of length, width, quantity, grommet placement and design.

Is there a standard fence size? I'm not sure what size mesh fence banners I need?

While there are some common fence sizes, there is no standard. We encourage all our clients to confirm the final size and quantity of fences for the job site prior to ordering their banners.

Do mesh fence banners need to be professionally installed?

No. Anyone who can work a zip tie can install a mesh banner. If you are covering a lot of square footage it can take a crew. We offer installation services to our clients who don't have the crew available to get their banners installed on their own. We're sure you have seen over sized, saggy, sloppy looking fence banners around construction sites.

How long will it take to receive my new mesh fence banners?

We can typically have your new banners delivered to you within 10 working days of final proof approval, often more quickly.

Is there any maintenance required once my new signs are installed?

Nope! Once installed you are good to go.
