Go Sounders! As the Official French Fry of Sounders FC, McDonald's prepared a little surprise for the Sounders Fans at the Seattle Sounders Game held in the CenturyLink Field. They are serving their World Famous French Fries in a Pacific North West themed food truck. RainMaker Signs is honored to be the graphic studio that produced and wrapped this special food truck.

The Mission Of The McDonald's French Fry Truck

McDonalds_french_fry_food_truck_vinyl_wrap_Seattle_WA_rainmaker_signs.jpgThe local owners of McDonald's of Western Washington are huge supporters of local events at the Pacific Northwest. To show support to the beloved Seattle Sounders soccer club, McDonald's gives out free medium fries with any purchase on the game day (coupon available via McDonald's App). And what's even better than having free fresh hot fries while watching the game at the field? McDonald's made this possible with their French Fry Truck that serves at the Century Link Field on the day of the match.

The mission of this McDonald's French Fry Truck is to travel to different festivals, sporting events, and other community events around the Pacific Northwest, everything from the Sounders Games to the Daffodil Festival. To increase people's excitement when they see the McDonald's food truck, the fast food chain worked with their national promotional agency to design a custom food truck wrap that best represents the Pacific Northwest. RainMaker Signs helped dress the big red truck with a vinyl wrap that shows a forest of the ubiquitous Pacific Northwest evergreen trees. The truck is even more customizable as McDonald's put up magnetic graphics especially designed for the events and festivals they attend to.

Innovative Food Truck Graphics Solutions Meet Clients' Needs

Our RainMaker Signs team enjoys the challenge of creating innovative solutions to match our clients' needs. As mentioned above, once of McDonald's objectives was apply changeable magnetic graphics that can be reused and taken on and off the vehicle. However, they then realized that magnets would not stick to their truck as the vehicle is not made of steel. RainMaker Signs helped explore different solutions that would make the use of the magnetic graphics possible.

In order for the magnets to stay on the truck, a layer of receptive metal that contains either iron, cobalt, or nickel must present. Our team looked into the possibility of installing steel plates onto the truck. But fearing that the walls of the truck might not be strong enough to safely support steel panels, we searched for other solutions.

In the end, our team found an innovative material called "rubber steel" ideal for our client's needs. The steel flecks inside this "rubber steel" material can serve as the magnetic reception needed on the body of the truck. After applying the pine tree food truck graphics, adhesive backed rubber steel panels were installed on sections of the truck where McDonald's wanted to position magnetic graphics. Another layer of vinyl with the same forest design are applied over the rubber steel to camouflage it with the rest of the vehicle.

McDonald's was delighted with this innovative solution. In fact, they have entrusted us with the task to produce more magnetic receptive wraps for their McDonald's French Fry Truck. Our RainMaker Signs team can't wait to see the new looks of the truck for different special events and festivals here at the Pacific Northwest.
